Junior Bible Quiz

Lexi and Peyton have been participating in Junior Bible Quiz this year. It is one of the ministries in our church. Youth grades 1-6 can drill and compete. At the end of the year, they talley up points in questions answered correctly. Lexi won 3rd place. The other 2 top winners #1 and #2 also came from our church. I was really happy for her. She really worked hard this year, and was very diligent in studying.

My Birthday Celebration

Today was my birthday, and co-incidentally Pigeon Forge had some attractions offering Homeschool Appreciation Week. (So they had big, bundled discounts on some attractions we had never been to yet.)

Our morning began with the kids singing “Happy Birthday” to me in Chinese.

Then we left for our adventure. Our first stop was The Tomb in Pigeon Forge. It was pretty neat. The kids really loved it. There are 3 rooms, and in each room there are some puzzles to solve in order to go to the next level. It only takes about 45 minutes to go through it.

The we played a round of mini golf at FireHouse Golf

We had lunch at the Great Smokey Mountain Brewery and Restaurant. They have some amazing hand squeezed lemonade. The kids split a pound of wings, and I had a burger.

Then we stopped by the popcorn factory and tasted samples. I bought a white chocolate twinkie and we all split it.

The we went over to MagiQuest.

We also played a round of Pirate Mini Golf.

It is really neat, the walls and everything glows under black light.

After this we went by Marble Slab where I used my Free Birthday Cone cupon-and we all split Birthday Yogurt with m&m’s. Then we met dad at home and went out to eat Chinese. I cannot remember the last time we ate out this much in such a short time. But it was a great day, and I was glad to spend it with a couple of my most favorite people!

I am looking forward to the upcoming year. God has given me better than I deserve!

Weekly Wrap Up

This week began with Petyon testing for the first time. He took the Standford Achievement Test.  One of our local Homeschool Academies allowed him to test with them. I really just want to see where he is in relation to national standards. This will let me know where to focus more next year.  I just wish I did not have to wait 2 months for the results. But oh well.

We finished up week 4 in our unit study. Next week we will take off for Spring Break. Our Chinese instructor will be gone, so I thought it would be the perfect time, since we won’t have a lot of extra curricular things going on. Even Wednesday night church activities are cancelled. So we will only have drama/art next week.

I have also been working on re-arranging the basement. I moved a few bookshelves, a computer hutch, moved the futon into the spare room (Which will not mainly be an extra bedroom/guest room.)

I have also been walking more. We went to the dam 2 x this week. So I am trying to make sure I do something active every day. (Even if it is just being extra busy around the house.)

I changed out Lexi’s winter comforter to a Spring Summer set and today I am changing mine out. I am not happy that I cannot seem to find the brand new set I bought for my bed late last summer. (It was my favorite thus far.) It has just disappeared.

This coming week while we are off I hope to get the carpets cleaned, curtains washed, all the beddings changed out-which will only leave Peytons.  I am also sorting through clothes that no longer fit the kids and making sure their closets/drawers are updated with clothes for the upcoming season.

Moon and Sunrise

Last night I caught a weird effect. I was shooting the moon, and picked up something else. I asked around on the DPS forum. Some people say it might have been lens glare. Another source said perhaps Mars.

This morning’s Sunrise.

4H Scrapages

I made a couple scrap pages to put in Lexi's explorer folder. She has to turn it in in April. She has worked really hard on completing the book and projects. I wanted to include some pictures in the book of her hard work.
